Renewal Season is upon us!!!

Failure to renew your license by December 31st 2014 will result in the lapse of your license and may impact your employability and/or ability to practice social work in the state of Oklahoma.
Reminder: Please note the three (3) hour ethics requirement does not have to be obtained as part of your Category I training (face to face). They can be obtained either in Category I, II or III. The only requirement for Category I training is that eight (8) of your sixteen (16) hours must be completed in this category.
Reminder: All new licensees (those who have a provisional license or exam ID number) who have taken and passed the licensing exam will be exempt from the continuing education requirement for the calendar year the exam was taken. Regardless of what month the exam was taken and passed, the licensee will still be required to renew the newly acquired license by December 31st, which will include paying the renewal fee.
Reminder: All transfer licensees approved prior to July 1st of the calendar year, as well as those who are renewing an existing license, are required to obtain sixteen (16) hours of continuing education in order to renew for the following calendar year. Eight (8) hours MUST be Category I (face to face); the other eight (8) may be Category I, II or III (Cat. II & III require the submission of a CE application), and three (3) of the sixteen (16) hours MUST include ethics training.
Reminder: All transfer licensees approve after July 1st (those who have transferred their license to Oklahoma from another jurisdiction) of the calendar year are required to obtain eight (8) hours of continuing education in order to renew for the following calendar year. All eight (8) hours MUST be Category I (face to face) and three (3) of those eight (8) hours MUST include ethics training. Any training received dating back to January 1 of the calendar year approved by ASWB or NASW can be used as part of this eight (8) hour requirement. Beginning the following calendar year, you will observe the instructions of the wallet card (required to acquire sixteen (16) hours of CE credit, eight (8) of which MUST be Category I, the other eight (8) may be Category I, II or III (Cat. II & III require the submission of a CE application), and three (3) of those sixteen (16) hours MUST include ethics training).
Reminder: For those who hold dual licensure, the total number of CE credit required for those who have dual licensure has been reduced from 32 to 22. What this means is you will acquire sixteen (16) hours of CE credit for what you consider to be your primary license, and an additional six (6) hours for the second license. 675:15-1-3. Any individual holding more than one license is required to obtain 6 additional hours of Category I continuing education for each additional license. Dual licensees should seek continuing education credits that reflect the nature of the licensure and scope of their practices. All licensees must receive a total of 3 hours of ethics training as defined by the Board. For individuals who have more than one license, ethics training can be obtained for either specialty.
Our board accepts varying methods of continuing education. The sponsor may be approved by our board (see www.ok.gov/socialworkers for a full listing), by the ASWB ACE Provider program (www.aswb.org), by the National Chapter of the NASW (www.socialworkers.org), or any NASW State Chapter.
FOR THOSE WHO MISS THE DECEMBER 31st DEADLINE, YOU MAY STILL RENEW THROUGH MARCH 31ST, 2015.
