Roster billing is a simplified billing process that allows mass immunizers to submit one claim with a list of the members they immunized. Effective October 1, 2012, HealthChoice, the Department of Rehabilitation Services, and the Department of Corrections will accept roster billing only from mass immunizers for seasonal influenza and/or pneumococcal vaccinations.
A roster bill can be submitted electronically utilizing the HIPAA-adopted ASC X12N 837 standard claim. Additionally, a hard copy roster bill can be submitted by attaching a separate CMS-1500 claim form for each type of vaccination administered. The roster bill lists all members who received vaccinations and the CMS-1500 claim form serves as the cover document for the roster.
