Affordable Care Act (ACA) – Free Preventive Healthcare Services for Women

EGID will be implementing the following ACA Preventive Services for charges incurred on or after January 1, 2013, at no cost to the member when using a HealthChoice Network Provider. Certain criteria must be met. The criteria for each benefit will be published soon. The criteria for each benefit is indicated on this website at this link, Preventive Services for 2013. The following is a summary of the benefit changes:
- Well-woman visits
- Gestational diabetes screening that helps protect pregnant women from one of the most serious pregnancy-related diseases
- Domestic and interpersonal violence screening and counseling
- FDA-approved contraceptive methods, and contraceptive education and counseling
- Breastfeeding support, supplies, and counseling
- HPV DNA testing, for women 30 or older
- Sexually transmitted infections counseling for sexually-active women
- HIV screening and counseling for sexually-active women
