Coalition wants to send two OK educators to personal financial literacy conference

In its efforts to continue helping educators meet the state’s financial education requirements, the Oklahoma Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy (OJC) is offering two scholarships for Oklahoma educators to attend a conference in Chicago, Ill.

The National Educator Conference, sponsored by the National Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy will be Nov. 2-4, at the JW Marriott Hotel. The scholarships will cover airfare, a travel stipend of $300 and the conference fee, which includes two nights lodging, conference meals and materials.

Applications are open to all K-12 educators who teach personal finance, consumer finance, economics or closely-related courses. Academic administrators are also welcome to apply but will need to note the nature of their positions and relationships to personal finance, consumer finance or economics on the application. Selected educators will be expected to attend the January 2013 OJC meeting to give a short presentation on their conference experience.

Get an application online at www.OklahomaJumpstart.org. Applications are due Sept. 14, 2012. Contact OJC President Cynthia Campbell at campbellc@tinkerfcu.org with any questions or concerns.
