Media Advisory - State Board of Education Meeting


WHO: The Oklahoma State Board of Education
WHAT: The board will consider possible action regarding emergency rules to refine the appeals process for students denied a diploma for not meeting Achieving Classroom Excellence requirements. The rules are tied to House Bill 2970, signed into law by Governor Fallin in April. The board also will hear a presentation on the State Department of Education’s new iTunes U Portal. Nick Migliorino, President of SchoolConnect Apps and also with Norman Public Schools, will demonstrate the free iPhone/Android app he has developed for schools that is being adopted across the state by many districts. Ponca City district personnel will conduct a demonstration of the innovative and free online Khan Academy, and how they are utilizing it in the classroom.
