Mid-Del Celebrates National Math and Science Initiative Partnership


MEDIA ADVISORY - National Math and Science Initiative Presentation

WHO: State Supt. Janet Barresi, Col. Cedric George, Commander 76th Maintenance Wing, Tinker Air Force Base honoring Del City and Midwest City High Schools
WHAT: Presentation and Reception. Del City and Midwest City High Schools will be recognized for being chosen to participate in a partnership with the National Math and Science Initiative (MMSI). The initiative replicates programs on a national scale that are proven to elevate public education rigor and student performance in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) related fields, utilizing performance-based accountability and rigorous demand for results. Del City and Midwest City High Schools will be entering into an agreement of implementation and operation of a multi-year Advanced Placement Teacher Training and Incentive Program of the National Math and Science Initiative. The Midwest City-Del City School District is one of the only districts in the nation to have all three of its high schools participate in the partnership. Carl Albert High School was selected for the program last year.
