New Teacher of the Year Finalist Announced

Angela McKenna, a choral music director at Sequoyah Middle School in Edmond, has been chosen as an Oklahoma 2013 Teacher of the Year finalist. She replaces Kimberly Landers, a 9th- through 12th-grade Spanish teacher at Deer Creek High School, who has taken an administrative position in another school district.

I recently attended the Model Schools Conference in Orlando, Florida.  This conference focused on schools across the nation that, at one time, had been labeled as failing. As a result of innovative planning, forward thinking, and unique collaborations, these schools have turned their failing schools into MODELS OF SUCCESS.
