Reward Schools Recognized by State Board, Legislators

The State Board of Education and State Legislators recognized 127 Reward Schools from throughout Oklahoma in a special Board meeting and in a ceremony at the State Capitol on Monday, April 9, 2012.

In a special meeting Monday, April 9, 2012, the State Board of Education recognized 127 Reward Schools from throughout the state. The Board also voted to place six schools on the list of C3 partnership Schools.

Math Teachers Can Win $25,000

The Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) is offering a $25,000 prize for Innovation in Math Teaching for fourth- through 12th-grade math teacher.

Pre-Kindergarten and the Common Core

The Oklahoma State Department of Education will host a two-day "Early Childhood Work Days" on July 16-17 in Oklahoma City with the primary focus of drafting proposed revisions to the current Oklahoma C3 Pre-Kindergarten standards in English/Language Arts and Mathematics as well as develop a Building Academic Vocabulary for Pre-Kindergarten.

Oklahoma City Community Foundation Awards $217,500 to 145 Area High School Seniors

The Oklahoma City Community Foundation Trustees awarded 145 area high school seniors with a total of $217,500 in scholar awards through the Community Foundation Scholars program. The recipients, who represent 51 public and private high schools located in four counties within central Oklahoma, will each receive a $1,500 scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year.

The Oklahoma State Department of Education today announced it has launched a new site on iTunes U, "OSDE on iTunes U," as part of its effort to expand digital learning and professional development resources for students, parents, educators and school administrators across the state.
