Six Oklahoma Schools Receive Blue Ribbon Status

Six Oklahoma schools were named Blue Ribbon Schools on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012. The schools are among 269 national Blue Ribbon Schools. Schools are selected as Exemplary High Performing Schools or Exemplary Improving Schools.

Mock Election Gives Students a Voice

The My Voice™ National Student Mock Election recently opened "voter registration" for students participating in the program. The program gives students across the country the opportunity to cast their votes for candidates in both the federal and state elections, and to talk about the issues they care about this fall and beyond.

Oklahoma Elementary Schools Receive STEM Awards

Ten Oklahoma elementary schools recently were named K20 STEM–Building STEM-Ready Elementary Schools. The first-time designation comes with grant funds for teacher training at the schools in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. The program is sponsored by the Oklahoma State Department of Education in collaboration with the K20 Center.

Handing Out Blue Ribbons and STEM Awards

Recent awards include six Oklahoma schools named among 269 national Blue Ribbon Schools and 10 elementary schools named K20 STEM-Building STEM-Ready Elementary Schools. I'm proud of the work that went into earning these titles and excited for what this means for the students in these schools.

Rising Star Teachers Recognized

State Superintendent Janet Barresi recognized six Rising Star Teachers from across the state during Tuesday’s state Teacher of the Year Ceremony,. Rising Stars are teachers who have been in the classroom seven years or less but who show an amazing amount of promise in their profession.
