News Coverage Focuses on Announcement of Waiver for Oklahoma

News outlets across Oklahoma offered positive, in-depth coverage on yesterday's announcement that Oklahoma is one of the first states in the union to gain flexibility from No Child Left Behind. The announcement lends added momentum to Oklahoma's state-level reforms, allowing the state to focus on its broad package of reforms known as the C3 Plan.

The verification list for nationally board certified staff (teachers, librarians, counselors, school psychologists, speech language pathologists, and audiologists) employed in districts is now available online.  

Youth Senate Delegates, Alternates Named

The Oklahoma State Department of Education recently announced two state delegates and two alternates to participate in the 51st Annual United States Senate Youth Program.

Selected as delegates are Johnathan Thomas Young of Vian High School in the Vian School District and Emma Jane Hutchison of Putnam City North High School in the Putnam City School District.

First Alternate is Daniel Lee Pae of Lawton High School in the Lawton School District. Second Alternate is Dylan Matthew Oney of Muskogee High School in the Muskogee School District.

Oklahoma School Security Institute Launches Tip Line for Schools

OKLAHOMA CITY – July 24, 2014 – The Oklahoma School Security Institute (OSSI) recently launched www.tipline.ok.gov where reports of activity that may compromise school security can be submitted and then disseminated to appropriate parties for additional investigation.
