Water OKLAHOMA MEDICAL
RESERVE CORPS

The state’s only medical and public health volunteer program.

In devastating disasters when lives are threatened, everyone knows that seconds count. And it’s the first responders who come to our aid. But often times, there are more people in need than available emergency personnel—that’s where the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps (OKMRC) steps in. Volunteer health care professionals working alongside compassionate non-medical volunteers offering live-saving care. Learn more about the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps and how you can get involved.

Medical Corps About Oklahoma MRC

The OKMRC, aligned with the national Medical Reserve Corps, shares the common goal of creating teams of volunteer medical, public health, and lay professionals to help during emergencies and disasters.

A statewide system, the OKMRC consists of specialty teams, and county units operating under the authority of local county health departments. Unit coordinators collaborate with the OKMRC program office to ensure program consistency, operational continuity and develop a network of support.

The Medical Reserve Corps programs strengthen communities by helping medical, public health and other volunteers offer their expertise throughout the year as well as during local emergencies and other times of community need. MRC volunteers work in coordination with existing local emergency response programs and also supplement existing community public health initiatives, such as outreach and prevention, immunization programs, blood drives, case management, care planning and other efforts.

The MRC program is administered by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
