But often times, there are more people in need than available emergency personnel—that’s where the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps (OKMRC) steps in. About Oklahoma MRC

The OKMRC, aligned with the national Medical Reserve Corps, shares the common goal of creating teams of volunteer medical, public health, and lay professionals to help during emergencies and disasters.

A statewide system, the OKMRC consists of specialty teams, and county units operating under the authority of local county health departments. Unit coordinators collaborate with the OKMRC program office to ensure program consistency, operational continuity and develop a network of support. 

The Medical Reserve Corps programs strengthen communities by helping medical, public health and other volunteers offer their expertise throughout the year as well as during local emergencies and other times of community need. MRC volunteers work in coordination with existing local emergency response programs and also supplement existing community public health initiatives, such as outreach and prevention, immunization programs, blood drives, case management, care planning and other efforts.
