CERT CERT
Community Emergency Response Team

A step toward individual preparedness
for a smarter, safer community.

No one can predict when a natural or manmade disaster might occur. And when the unthinkable happens, will you know what to do?

Oklahoma’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a group of citizens, just like you, who want to be better prepared to care for themselves and others during an emergency. Learn more about your local CERT program and how you can get involved.

CERT About CERT

CERT is an opportunity for everyone to take a more active role in preparing for and responding to emergencies in their communities.

CERT training will teach you:

  • specific disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact your area;
  • basic disaster response skills; and
  • the decision making, organizational and practical skills needed to offer immediate assistance to family members, neighbors and associates while waiting for help.

Those who are a natural fit for CERT training are often a part of a neighborhood watch, community organizations, communities of faith, school staff, workplace employees, scouting organization and other groups that come together regularly for a common purpose.

CERT is administered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
