Body of Person of Interest in Creek County Death Case Found
The search is over for the person of interest in the death case of Leticia Melendez Reyes of Tulsa. Sunday, Creek County deputies found Jose Acevedo’s body hanging from a tree near the area where Reye’s body was discovered in Creek County May 8th. It appears Acevedo committed suicide.
His body was found approximately 75 yards from the road where the 26 year old was found with her two young children inside a sports utility vehicle. The two children were not harmed and have been reunited with family members from Mexico.
OSBI Latent Print Examiners lifted prints from the body Tuesday and matched them to Acevedo’s prints already on file.
The OSBI and the Creek County Sheriff’s Office began searching for Acevedo the day Reyes’ body was found since the two lived together and a protection order had been filed by Reyes against Acevedo.
Later in the week, OSBI named Acevedo a person of interest in the suspicious death case.
Investigators continue to wait for the results of an autopsy on Reyes.
