Agents Investigate Shooting Death of 11-year-old Craig County Boy
The Craig County Sheriff’s Office requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation help with the shooting death of an 11-year-old boy near Welch. The shooting happened Sunday afternoon at a rural location on Highway 2 just north of Welch. It was reported to officials as a hunting accident. The victim, 11-year-old James Ridge Foster of Welch, died at the scene from a single gunshot wound while hunting with his 12-year-old friend. The suspect is in the custody of his parents at this time.
The medical examiner will perform an autopsy which will provide investigators with more information about the shooting. The OSBI agent in charge of the case will provide the district attorney with a full report on the shooting. The district attorney will determine how to proceed with the criminal case.
