Agents Investigate Shooting of Elderly Man Near Wagoner

The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office requested OSBI assistance with the shooting and attempted murder of a 73-year-old man this morning. About 7:30, Kenneth Wallace Payne (d.o.b. 7-26-1938) of Wagoner was at the Fort Gibson Wildlife Management Area Shooting Range sighting in several of his guns when someone shot him multiple times and left him for dead. Payne was able to call a family member on his cell phone for help.

At least four guns were stolen from Payne was well as a portable tool chest. Payne retired from the Air Force and lived only a few miles away. If anyone has information about this shooting, please contact the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017.
