Agents Assist in Tahlequah Stabbing Investigation

Tahlequah Police requested OSBI assistance in an overnight stabbing at an apartment complex. Between 1:30 and 2 o’clock Tuesday morning Kanean Weeter Scott (d.o.b. 8-2-83) was stabbed multiple times at 508 E. Ward Street in Tahlequah. Scott was taken to a Tulsa hospital where he underwent surgery. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Investigators arrested Mark Kenneth Coplen (d.o.b. 9-24-59) for assault with a deadly weapon. People living in the complex told agents that several people were drinking in the area when the victim and suspect began arguing about the noise.

Coplen was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center.
