Officials Investigating Double Murder in Le Flore County, Searching for Person of Interest

The OSBI and Le Flore County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a double homicide at 21299 Old Bokoshe School Road. A family member of the victims requested a neighbor check on the elderly couple because the family member was unable to make contact. Approximately 9 o’clock Wednesday evening, the neighbor found one victim lying dead in the backyard of the home. The neighbor called 911 for assistance. Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene and entered the home where they found a second victim dead. The medical examiner has taken custody of the bodies and will determine cause/manner of death and make positive identification of the victims. They are believed to be the owners of the home, Paul Statham (d.o.b. 7/3/41) and his wife Helen Statham (d.o.b. 12/15/41).

The victims’ pickup truck was possibly stolen from the scene. It is a 1993 model Chevrolet Z71 four-wheel-drive with two-tone paint, green on the top and bottom and tan or silver in the middle. Officials are also searching for the couple’s son, Kevin Statham (d.o.b. 6/26/61), for questioning. Felony warrants for crimes committed two years ago are still active on Statham.

If anyone has knowledge of the whereabouts of Statham or the vehicle, please contact the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017 or the Le Flore County Sheriff’s Office.
