Media Class, June 22
The media is invited to another OSBI class June 22nd from 6:30pm-8:30pm at the Forensic Science Center located at 800 E. 2nd in Edmond.
This class will take you inside the DNA Unit where you will help identify and extract DNA from items typically left as evidence in crime scenes. Once DNA is lifted, a profile is worked and then entered in to the Combined DNA Index System known as CODIS. You will see first-hand how that system works and helps identify suspects.
Tuesday, May 31st, OSBI announced the resolution of a 15-year-old murder case using fingerprint technology. The latent print analyst who lifted the print in 1996 and matched it with the suspect will speak about that case and show you how latent prints are lifted and how the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) works.
Dinner will be served.
Please RSVP to PIO Jessica Brown via e-mail or phone by Monday, June 20. Anyone in your newsroom is welcome to come. The class is limited to 30 people.
