Fugitive Caught

OSBI Agents have arrested a man on the run for two years for molesting two young children in Kingfisher County.  Mark Tracy Vernon (d.o.b. 8-17-66) was arrested at the U.S./Mexican border in Laredo, Texas, Monday morning.

In October, the FBI notified Kingfisher County that Vernon was possibly living in Monterrey, Mexico.  OSBI officials provided the FBI with photographs and specific identifiers to allow the FBI and Mexican authorities to make a positive identification of Vernon.  Once he was identified, Vernon was taken into custody by the FBI and Mexican authorities and transported to the U.S./Mexican border.

OSBI Agents were on standby waiting for word of Vernon’s apprehension, and once that happened immediately flew in the Bureau plane to Laredo, Texas, to meet authorities there.  OSBI Agents, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, took Vernon into custody and booked him into the Webb County, Texas, Jail.  It is anticipated Vernon will be transported to Kingfisher County over the weekend.
