Reward Offered in Jackson County Cold Case
The OSBI is offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) who killed Johnny Ray Lee in Jackson County. Lee’s burned body was discovered in a bar ditch off County Road 203 just southwest of Altus. A week later, Lee’s 1986 Ford truck was found in a field approximately 2.5 miles southeast of where officers found Lee’s body.
The day prior to his death, the 60-year-old victim left his home in Altus to drive to Quanah, Texas, to visit friends.
Lee died from massive burn injuries when his body was set on fire. The medical examiner’s office determined Lee was alive at the time he was set on fire.
If anyone has information on this homicide, they are urged to call the OSBI hotline at 1-800-522-8017.
