OSBI Investigates Stabbing Death in Wewoka

The Wewoka Police Department requested OSBI assistance in a fatal stabbing Saturday night at 215 W. Cedar Street.  

Just before 9pm, Erwin Wimberly (d.o.b. 3-28-65) was stabbed by his brother Labron Cosby (d.o.b. 7-22-58).  The two were arguing in a vacant lot where many people had gathered. Wimberly was transported by ambulance to the hospital in Seminole where he was pronounced dead.

Cosby was arrested for the murder and booked into the city jail.  He was released Sunday night after an initial investigation indicates the possibility of self defense.  

OSBI continues to investigate the killing and will present a report to the district attorney’s office. The district attorney will decide if any charges will be filed.
