OSBI Investigates Marshall Co. Home Burglary
OSBI agents and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office are working to determine who broke into a rural county home and stole a large steel safe. Authorities received a fire alarm call Thursday at 1:45 a.m. to a home off Old Willis Road north of Highway 32 in Marshall County. Forty-five minutes later, deputies discovered a white 2006 GMC pickup truck parked at the home was missing as well as a large, custom made safe. The safe is 4 feet tall, 4 feet wide, 4 feet deep and weighs approximately 1,000 pounds.
About 3:30 a.m. Cook County, Texas, deputies recovered the missing truck in a lake northwest of Gainesville, Texas. The safe has not been located. OSBI crime scene investigators have processed the truck and home for evidence.
Authorities believe the house was set on fire after the burglary. No one was inside the home at the time of the fire. The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the blaze.
The burglary victims are offering up to a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this burglary.
If anyone has information about the burglary, please call either the OSBI at 1-800-522-8017 or the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office at 1-580-795-2221.
