OSBI Investigates Jail Death

Tuesday morning, the Texas County Sheriff’s Office requested the OSBI investigate the death of an inmate at the Texas County Detention Center in Guymon.  Ronnie Lee Morehead (dob 2/18/50) of Hardesty was arrested at 11pm Monday by the Hardesty Police Department on suspicion of DUI.  Just after 6am Tuesday jail guards found him convulsing in a holding cell.  EMS was called and Morehead was transported to the emergency room of Memorial Hospital of Texas County.  Doctors pronounced Morehead head at about 7:30 that morning.

Morehead’s body has been transported to the medical examiners office in Oklahoma City for an autopsy.  There were no signs of trauma on his body.  An OSBI agent has interviewed all detention center staff on duty at the time Morehead was booked into jail and the guards working the shift at the time
