Private Grant Money for New OSBI Lab
Tuesday, July 24th, a representative with the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, Inc., of Ardmore toured the new OSBI Forensic Science Center in Edmond. While on the tour, Donna Windel, Director of Granting for the Noble Foundation, announced it will award the OSBI with a grant for $390,000 to help purchase new instrument used in forensic testing plus provide much needed office and classroom furnishings.
The FSC, located near the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) and currently under construction, will feature laboratory training areas equipped with instrumentation that will be used by university students interested in forensic science as well as OSBI personnel. The items funded by this grant will support an existing partnership between the OSBI and UCO.
For more than 20 years, the OSBI has supported the university’s forensic science program by accepting practicum students and hiring many of its well prepared, highly qualified graduates. The move-in target date is during the month of November.
