Arrest Warrant Issued for Suspects in Thackerville Murder

Arrest warrants have been issued for two suspects for the murder of 49-year-old Rufus Thomas Lowrey. 

Shawn Leggett and Timothy Byford, both 18 years of age, are named in the first degree murder warrants issued in Love County district court.  The pair remains on the run possibly in the victim’s 2003 GMC Yukon dark gray in color.  The Texas tag on the vehicle has likely been changed. 

Lowrey was shot and killed inside a rest stop bathroom early Monday morning in Thackerville.  Police also found a burning SUV one mile north of the homicide scene.  The two suspects have warrants out for stealing that vehicle in North Carolina.
