OSBI Investigates Rest Stop Homicide

Love County Sheriff’s Officials called in OSBI agents to help in a robbery/homicide case.  A man was found dead inside the men’s bathroom at a rest stop a few miles inside Oklahoma along the Oklahoma/Texas boarder on Interstate 35 near Thackerville about 4 o’clock Monday morning.  The medical examiner will determine cause of death.

The 50-year-old victim’s vehicle is missing and believed to be stolen by his killer(s).  Investigators are searching for the victim’s 2003 GMC Yukon, dark graphite gray in color.  The license tag number on a Texas plate is 9FGM83.  If anyone sees this vehicle, they are urged to call the OSBI Hotline at 1-800-522-8017.  OSBI is not releasing the victim’s identity until his next of kin has been notified.

At the same time police responded to the body found at the rest stop, officers spotted a burning SUV one mile north of that rest stop.  The vehicle was stolen from North Carolina by two men.  OSBI is searching for these men for questioning about the homicide.  Officials in North Carolina are in the process of e-mail Oklahoma investigators mug shots of the two stolen vehicle suspects.  Once OSBI obtains those pictures, they will be posted on the OSBI web site at www.osbi.ok.gov.
