OSBI Investigates Police Involved Shooting in Elk City
Elk City police called in OSBI agents Saturday to investigate a police involved shooting that happed about approximately 5 p.m.
Elk City officers received a call of to a man with a gun at the Flamingo Inn. When police arrived on the scene, they walked down a breezeway between two buildings. One officer rounded the corner and discovered a man sitting outside with a gun in his lap.
The officer ordered the man, later identified as Enrique Marin (dob 5/2/76) of Lawton, to get on the ground. Instead, Marin stood and pointed the handgun at the officer.
The officer fired his shotgun one time hitting Marin in the right shoulder. Marin was transported to an Elk City hospital then flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Marin also goes by Santiago Marin Aviles with the date of birth 2/8/1974.
OSBI is interviewing all involved parties and will compile a report for the district attorney. The D.A. will decide whether the shooting was justified.
