RENEWAL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Licenses may be renewed any time within 90 days prior to the expiration Expiration notification will be sent to the mailing address provided There is a 30-day grace period on license renewals; after 30 days, the license is considered expired and the applicant may no longer legally carry a concealed or unconcealed handgun. If it has been over 3 years since your license has expired, you must process through the sheriff’s office in your county of residence and follow the initial applications instructions, however, it is not necessary to retake the training class.OSBI maintains a record of all training or exemption certificates submitted.
STEP #1: Review the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act; Carefully look at the eligibility requirements, mandatory preclusions and other preclusions to determine if you are qualified to be an SDA license holder STEP #2: Complete an application; STEP #3: Attach two (2) color, passport style photographs to your application; NO PERSONALLY PRINTED PHOTOGRAPHS WILL BE ACCEPTED STEP #4: Take or mail the completed application, photographs, and required fee to Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation Oklahoma City OK 73116
FEES AND FORMS OF PAYMENT:
Acceptable forms of payment include Money Orders, Cashier’s checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. NO PERSONAL CHECKS, BUSINESS CHECKS OR CASH ACCEPTED
RESULTS:Approved applicants will receive their license at the mailing address listed on the application via 1st class mail. Denied applicants will receive written notification by 1st class mail.
PLEASE ALLOW 60-90 DAYS FOR PROCESSING THE COMPLETE APPLICATION. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS CANNOT BE PROCESSED.
