This is a new procedure the House leadership introduced in 2006. It changes the process for allowing amendments to be considered to a bill when it reaches the House floor. Depending on the day of the week when a bill passes committee, there are deadlines by which a Member must file his/her proposed floor amendment, or amendment to an amendment.
