LEVEL
DESCRIPTORS:
The
Photogrammetrist job family has four levels which are distinguished by the
level of complexity of specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility
assigned for a specific task, the level of expertise required for completion of
assigned tasks, and the responsibility for training and/or supervision of
others.
This
is the basic level where incumbents perform entry-level work in a training
status using standardized procedures to assist and/or perform tasks in
photogrammetry. Employees at this level
are closely supervised and work assignments are well detailed.
Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities required at this level include
knowledge of technical surveying; of mathematics; of engineering theory; of
analytical values; of photogrammetric mapping; and of computer
applications. Skill is required in
visualizing objects in three dimensions and in small motor dexterity. Ability
is required to retrieve photogrammetric data.
Education
and Experience requirements at this level consist of
an associate’s degree in cartography, civil engineering, geography,
photogrammetry, or surveying; or an equivalent combination of education and
experience, substituting one year of experience in CADD, cartography, technical
engineering, photogrammetry, or surveying for each year of the required
education.
Level II Code: T60B Salary
Band: J
This
is the career level where incumbents perform a variety of tasks in
photogrammetry at the full-performance level, such as retrieving field survey
data from ground survey archive files, building complex alignments using
coordinate geometry software, and generating volume computations for highway
design.
Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities required at this level include
those identified in Level I plus the ability to communicate ideas on technical
photogrammetry matters.
Education
and Experience requirement at this level consist of a
bachelor’s degree in cartography, civil engineering, geography, photogrammetry,
or surveying; or an equivalent combination of education and experience,
substituting one year of experience in CADD, cartography, technical
engineering, photogrammetry, or surveying for each year of the required
education.
Level III Code: T60C Salary Band: K
This
is the specialist level where incumbents perform complex work in the extraction
of all available data from aerial photography to be used in the reconnaissance,
planning, design and construction of highways.
Incumbents may train, distribute work, assign work and approve the work
of subordinate employees. This level
might identify projects best suited for photogrammetry and plan strategic
targeting for surveyors.
Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities required at this level include
those identified in Level II plus the ability to organize and conduct several
activities simultaneously.
Education
and Experience requirements at this level consist of
those identified in Level II plus two additional years of qualifying
experience.
Level IV Code:
T60D Salary
Band: L
Incumbents
at this level are assigned responsibility for the supervision of staff
performing photogrammetry work. This
will include responsibility for assigning, reviewing, and checking the work of
others, completing performance evaluations, approving leave and initiating
disciplinary actions.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities required at this level include
those identified in Level III plus knowledge of supervisory practices and
principles and ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
Education
and Experience requirements at this level consist of
those identified in Level III plus one additional year of qualifying
experience.
