CORRECTIONAL SECURITY CONSULTANT, #I16

BASIC PURPOSE:

Positions within this job family are assigned responsibilities on a statewide basis for analyzing and implementing security systems at state prison facilities. Employees in this class conduct feasibility studies, perform surveys to audit and make recommendations to design telecommunications PBX, RF radio communications systems, closed circuit video surveillance systems, electronic perimeter-intrusion security systems and specialized high security mogul detention lock and key system.

The Correctional Security Consultant job family consists of only one level and incumbents are responsible for performing all functions related to the assigned position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of electronic telecommunications systems application, design and maintenance; of Federal Communications Commission Law; of perimeter intrusion detection systems and video surveillance systems application, design and maintenance; of high security detention mogul locking systems applications, design and maintenance; of schematic and blue print reading; and of security/detention instructional techniques and practices. Ability is required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to communicate effectively.

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of five years experience designing and maintaining electronic institutional security systems; or an equivalent combination of education, substituting one year of technical education in electronics for each year of the required experience with a maximum substitution of two years.
