CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR, #F42

BASIC PURPOSE:

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the supervision, direction and/or inspection of the construction, renovation, improvement or repair of buildings and structures and other facilities throughout the state.

The Construction Inspector job family consists of only one level and incumbent employees are responsible for performing all functions related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the principles and practices of architectural engineering; of contemporary building construction methods and materials; of current building codes; of the preparation of cost estimates and specifications; of the principles and methods of surveying and inspecting sites and buildings preparatory to planning and designing proposed structures or alterations; of the principles of landscape architecture; and of civil engineering as applied to building construction. Ability is required to analyze and prepare designs, plans and specifications; to plan and supervise the work of others; to provide consultant and advisory services to public officials; to establish effective working relationships with others; and to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations on proposed architectural or engineering projects.

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural engineering, civil engineering, construction management, or a closely related field and one year of experience in architectural design, architectural or civil engineering work, construction management, or closely related work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
