ADMINISTRATIVE ARCHIVIST, #E42

BASIC PURPOSE:

Positions in this job family are responsible for oversight of the state's Archives and Records Management programs.

The Administrative Archivist job family consists of only one level and the incumbent will be responsible for performing all of the functions of the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required include knowledge of the principles and techniques of archival evaluation, preservation and management; of the principles and techniques of records and information management; of research principles and techniques; of state laws and administrative rules and regulations related to archival records; of microcomputer applications; and of management and supervisory principles and practices. Ability is required to plan, direct, evaluate and coordinate activities of multiple work units; to identify organizational problems and develop effective solutions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to interpret, analyze and resolve highly complex administrative and personnel problems; and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Education and Experience requirements consist of a master's degree in archival administration, history, political science, library science, public administration, or a related field and seven years experience as a professional archivist or records manager, including two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

NOTE: No substitution will be allowed for the required experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
