ASSISTANT DEPUTY COMMISSIONER, STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, X44
BASIC PURPOSE: The position in this job family is assigned responsibilities in the development, management and implementation of a statewide program of environmental health services, local health services or vital statistics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required include knowledge of the principles and practices of public health administration; of pertinent federal and state laws; of program management; of current health issues; of social and economic trends in public health; and of the state budgetary process. Ability is required to apply management and supervisory techniques; to communicate with the public, legislators and other health care officials on public health matters; to allocate staff and funds to meet program goals; to analyze complex problems and adopt an appropriate course of action; and to communicate administrative goals and objectives effectively both orally and in writing.
Education and Experience requirements consist of a master's degree in biological or physical science, environmental science, public health, a health-related field, business or public administration and seven years of professional-level experience in one of the above listed areas, including three years in an administrative capacity in a public health program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
