PHOTOGRAMMETRIST, T60
BASIC PURPOSE: Positions in this job family are responsible for performing professional photogrammetric computer aided mapping, drafting and design tasks, and transportation management operations work developing departmental plans, maps, projects and reports.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS: The functions within this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:
LEVEL DESCRIPTORS: The Photogrammetrist job family has four levels which are distinguished by the level of complexity of specific job assignments, the extent of responsibility assigned for a specific task, the level of expertise required for completion of assigned tasks, and the responsibility for training and/or supervision of others.
Level I Code: T60A Salary Band: I This is the basic level where incumbents perform entry-level work in a training status using standardized procedures to assist and/or perform tasks in photogrammetry. Employees at this level are closely supervised and work assignments are well detailed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of technical surveying; of mathematics; of engineering theory; of analytical values; of photogrammetric mapping; and of computer applications. Skill is required in visualizing objects in three dimensions and in small motor dexterity. Ability is required to retrieve photogrammetric data.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of an associate’s degree in cartography, civil engineering, geography, photogrammetry, or surveying; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of experience in CADD, cartography, technical engineering, photogrammetry, or surveying for each year of the required education.
Level II Code: T60B Salary Band: J This is the career level where incumbents perform a variety of tasks in photogrammetry at the full-performance level, such as retrieving field survey data from ground survey archive files, building complex alignments using coordinate geometry software, and generating volume computations for highway design.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level I plus the ability to communicate ideas on technical photogrammetry matters.
Education and Experience requirement at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree in cartography, civil engineering, geography, photogrammetry, or surveying; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of experience in CADD, cartography, technical engineering, photogrammetry, or surveying for each year of the required education.
Level III Code: T60C Salary Band: K This is the specialist level where incumbents perform complex work in the extraction of all available data from aerial photography to be used in the reconnaissance, planning, design and construction of highways. Incumbents may train, distribute work, assign work and approve the work of subordinate employees. This level might identify projects best suited for photogrammetry and plan strategic targeting for surveyors.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level II plus the ability to organize and conduct several activities simultaneously.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level II plus two additional years of qualifying experience.
Level IV Code: T60D Salary Band: L Incumbents at this level are assigned responsibility for the supervision of staff performing photogrammetry work. This will include responsibility for assigning, reviewing, and checking the work of others, completing performance evaluations, approving leave and initiating disciplinary actions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level III plus knowledge of supervisory practices and principles and ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level III plus one additional year of qualifying experience.
