HIGHWAY SAFETY COORDINATOR, J32
BASIC PURPOSE: This position is responsible for directing and administering a statewide highway safety program. This will include developing and implementing the annual highway safety plan and directing professional and clerical staff in developing and monitoring individual projects and components of the program.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS: Level I: Code: J32A Salary Band: M The Highway Safety Coordinator job family consists of only one level and the incumbent will be responsible for performing all essential functions involving directing and administering a statewide highway safety program.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of public administration; of personnel and fiscal management; of transportation systems; of highway safety principles and practices; of statistical research methods; of program planning techniques; and of the principles of management and supervision. Ability is required to plan, direct and review the work of others; to analyze complex situations and make responsible decisions; to coordinate safety programs and projects; to communicate effectively; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree and five years of professional experience in business or public administration, including two years in a supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
