LAW ENFORCEMENT LAKE PATROL OFFICER, G52
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving law enforcement duties in the Lake Patrol Section of the Highway Patrol Division of the Department of Public Safety. This includes conducting patrols in an assigned area or district to enforce motor vehicle, criminal, boating and other laws and safeguard citizens and property, apprehend violators and provide assistance to the general public.

The Law Enforcement Lake Patrol Officer job family consists of three levels which are distinguished based on the complexity of assigned duties, the expertise required to perform job assignments and the responsibility assigned for providing supervision or direction to others.
Level I: Code: G52A Salary Band: NA
This is the career level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibility for a full range of law enforcement duties in an assigned area or district and will perform highly independent work in conducting assigned patrols and providing protection for citizens and property in the assigned area. Some responsibilities may also be assigned for providing training and assistance to new officers.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of first aid techniques; of small water craft and techniques to ensure safe operation; of water safety procedures and techniques; the Oklahoma Boat and Water Safety Law and of enforcement methods and procedures; and of routine police and security practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; to deal courteously with the general public; to exercise initiative, tact and alertness to prepare simple reports; and to speak in public.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of possession of a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguard Training, Waterfront Lifeguarding Module, Waterpark Lifeguarding Module or Head Lifeguard; or a current YMCA certificate for Lifeguarding; or a diving association certificate as a Rescue Diver or Search and Recovery Diver; or an equivalent certificate
Level II: Code: G52B Salary Band: NA
This is the specialist level where employees are assigned responsibilities involving advanced level work of a technical or specialized nature. This may include conducting research, making computations, preparing special reports and bulletins, providing advice and instruction, and other activities as directed within the scope of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level I plus knowledge of the technical or specialized duties assigned.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level I plus at least five years of experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Division

This is the leadership level where employees are assigned responsibilities involving the supervision of other law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties. In this role, they will be responsible for the supervision of patrols, investigations, and other activities in an assigned area or district, advising and assisting assigned officers as needed, checking equipment, and required records and reports, arranging work schedules, advising staff on changes in policies or procedures, and other related duties.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level II plus knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Ability to supervise the work of others.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level II.
Level IV: Code: G52D Salary Band: NA
At this level employees are assigned responsibilities as a Patrol First Lieutenant involving the management and direction of the overall operations of the Lake Patrol Section of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Division. Supervision will be provided to assigned first-level supervisors who are directly responsible for the supervision of assigned staff in performing various law enforcement duties and activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level III plus knowledge of the rules, regulations, organization and purposes of the Department of Public Safety and the Lake Patrol Section; and of other law enforcement agencies. Ability is also required to direct the work of others; to interpret and apply state and federal laws concerning motor vehicles, boats and related equipment, criminal activities and other matters.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level III plus one additional year of qualifying experience in a supervisory capacity..
