ELECTRICIAN, F75 BASIC PURPOSE: Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the layout, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures and related equipment in a state agency or facility.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS: The functions within this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:
LEVEL DESCRIPTORS: This job family consists of four levels which are distinguished based on the complexity of work assigned, the expertise required to complete assigned tasks, and the responsibility assigned for the supervision of others.
Level I: Code: F75A Salary Band: G This is the basic level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities as apprentice electricians and perform minor repairs on electrical systems, fixtures and related equipment or provide assistance to fully qualified electricians in completing more complex work or projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and minor repair of electrical fixtures and equipment; of the safety precautions necessary in the electrical trade; and of local, state and national electric underwriters' code for electrical installation. Ability is required to perform minor maintenance and repair of electrical apparatus; and to keep records and make reports.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of registration as an Electrical Apprentice with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.
Level II: Code: F75B Salary Band: H This is the career level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities for performing a full range of duties in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems as a journeyman electrician. This may include some responsibilities for providing training and guidance to apprentice electricians or other non-licensed personnel assigned to assist in completing some projects.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level I plus knowledge of electrical systems used in new construction. Ability is required to install maintain, and repair electrical fixtures, to make preliminary sketches and develop bills of materials for electrical work, and to direct non-licensed personnel.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of licensure as a Journeyman Electrician with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.
Level III: Code: F75C Salary Band: I This is the specialist level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities for performing advanced level work of an independent nature in installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems and fixtures at a state agency or facility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level II plus knowledge of laws, rules and regulations governing the planning, installation, repair, maintenance and renovation of electrical systems. Ability is required to perform highly independent work.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of active or inactive licensure as an electrical contractor with the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board.
Level IV: Code: F75D Salary Band: J This is the leadership level of this job family where employees are assigned responsibilities involving the design and planning of electrical systems as well as responsibility for supervising the work of others in maintaining and repairing such systems. This will involve overall responsibility for the electrical systems in an assigned agency, facility or designated area.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level III plus knowledge of supervisory principles and practices and ability to supervise the work of other electricians.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level III.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: In order to operate state-owned vehicles in the performance of regularly assigned duties, some positions may require that the successful applicant possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at the time of appointment.
Some positions may require possession of active licensure within 30 days of appointment.
