SECURITY SYSTEMS PROGRAM MANAGER, F58 BASIC PURPOSE: Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving planning, installing and maintaining intrusion detection systems, coordinating program needs with other agencies or divisions, and maintaining emergency communications equipment. This includes determining systems requirements, planning and coordinating installation of equipment, performing maintenance on existing systems as needed, and supervision of technicians in other fields, contractors, or vendors when assisting on various projects.

LEVEL DESCRIPTORS: Level I: Code: F58A Salary Band: K The Security Systems Program Manager job family consists of only one level and incumbent employees are responsible for performing all functions related to the position to which assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of electronics theory as applied to telecommunications, intrusion detection and alarm systems; of methods, tools, materials, meters and test equipment used in the installation, maintenance and repair of electronics and telecommunications equipment; of hazards and safety practices associated with working with electricity; of managerial principles and practices; and of federal, state and local laws and ordinances governing the parameter requirements of intrusion detection and fire notification equipment. Ability is required to plan installations; to prepare, modify and read blueprints and drawings; maintain and repair electronics and communications equipment; to maintain effective intrusion detection and alarm systems through sound management practices; to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; and to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of five years of experience in the maintenance and repair of electronic systems and equipment, telecommunications circuitry or intrusion detection equipment and alarm devices; or an equivalent combination of education and training.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be willing and able to complete all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
