MATERIEL MANAGEMENT OFFICER, F21
BASIC PURPOSE: Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the procurement, storage, control, issue and delivery of supplies and equipment used in the operation of an agency or institution. This may include responsibility for directing the operations of a large warehouse or other supply facility, responsibility for the statewide delivery of supplies and other materials, supervision of other supervisory personnel and various administrative responsibilities. It may also include supervising the operation of all storerooms where supplies are stored, and directing or coordinating procurement functions.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS: The functions within this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:
LEVEL DESCRIPTORS: The Materiel Management Officer job family consists of two levels which are distinguished based on the accountability assigned and the size and scope of the function for which responsibility is assigned.
Level I Code: F21A Salary Band: H At this level employees are assigned responsibilities involving the management of a supply or materiel management function of moderate size and scope. In this role they will be responsible for all materiel management activities of an agency or institution including maintaining perpetual inventories, insuring proper storage of warehoused items, and meeting the needs of the agency for various supplies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of relevant state or federal regulations; of the methods and procedures for acquisition of supplies and equipment; of warehouse principles, techniques and inventory methods; and of various types of mechanical equipment used in warehousing operations. Ability is required to establish and maintain effective working relationships; and to take accurate inventories.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of four years experience in supply or warehousing work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Level II Code: F21B Salary Band: I At this level employees are assigned responsibilities involving the management of a supply or materiel management function large in size and scope. This will include overall administrative responsibility for all activities related to the acquisition, receipt, storage, issue and delivery of requested supplies and equipment and supervision of other supervisory personnel responsible for various activities related to this function.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level I plus knowledge of administrative principles and practices and supervisory principles and practices.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level I plus one year of additional qualifying experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill all job related travel normally associated with the position.
Upon a conditional offer of employment, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services applicants must submit to a physical examination and shall meet the physical examination requirements of lifting/carrying 70 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently and able to push and pull a maximum force of 40 pounds.
