Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the operation of a variety of power equipment, such as folding, cutting, collating, drilling, punching and binding machines.
The positions within this job family will vary by level, but may include the following:
The bindery worker job family consists of three levels which are distinguished by the level of complexity of the position, the extent of responsibility assigned, the level of expertise required for the completion of assigned projects, and responsibility for the supervision of others.
Level I: Code: E33A Salary Band: E
This is the basic level where incumbents perform entry-level work in a training status to build their skills in the operation and maintenance of bindery equipment. In this role they will be assigned bindery work of a simple nature such as cleaning, lubricating and making simple adjustments to equipment and other activities which require only basic knowledge and skills in the operation of bindery equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of the maintenance and operation of bindery tools and equipment; of methods of book binding; and of paper qualities, characteristics, and adaptabilities. Ability is required to operate and perform routine duties on bindery machines; and to follow oral and written instructions.
Education and Experience requirements at this level are none.
Level II: Code: E33B Salary Band: F
This is the career level where employees perform a full range of assignments, varying in complexity of the operation of various bindery equipment. This includes the set-up and operation of a full range of bindery equipment, and providing training and assistance to lower level positions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level I plus knowledge of inventory control methods. Ability is required to train subordinate employees.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of three years of experience in the operation of a variety of power bindery equipment such as folding machines, paper cutters, collators and perforators.
Level III: Code: E33C Salary Band: H
This is the leadership level where employees perform all functions of lower levels, plus supervisory duties associated with the operation of bindery equipment. This will include assigning and reviewing work, and performing work on the more complex equipment to complete highly technical jobs.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level II plus knowledge of supervisory principles and techniques.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level II plus two additional years of qualifying experience.
