INFORMATION SYSTEMS NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR, B22
BASIC PURPOSE: Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the administration and direction of a telecommunications information technology program and related systems. This may include direction of a radio communications system, computer network system, or similar system for a state agency or the direction of a multi-agency telecommunications or information technology program including long-range planning for future program direction and goals.
TYPICAL FUNCTIONS: The functions within this job family will vary by level but may include the following:
LEVEL DESCRIPTORS: The Information Systems Network Administrator job family consists of four levels which are distinguished based on the size and scope of responsibilities, the complexity of assigned duties and the experience required to direct assigned functions.
Level I Code: B22A Salary Band: L At this level employees are assigned responsibilities involving the administration of a telecommunications or information technology program and related systems which is limited in size and scope. This includes a program in a district or geographical location, in a state institution or facility, at a small agency, and similar programs. Responsibilities may include direction or supervision of a small staff, of contractors or vendors, or of others performing work within the area of responsibility and will include overall responsibility for the telecommunications program within the assigned area or facility.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of communications networks and telecommunications theories; of various telecommunications equipment, including radios, telephones, microcomputers or other related devices; of electronic theories; of computer systems related to telecommunications networks; of procurement rules and regulations; and of budgeting and accounting procedures. Ability is required to analyze telecommunications requirements; to evaluate the capabilities and performance of telecommunications systems; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; and to communicate effectively.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of a bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in the operation or maintenance of a telecommunications network; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one additional year of qualifying experience for each year of the required education; or completion of a technical school or vendor training in the area of Computer Operations/Networking Technology; or professional certification such as A+, MCSE and CNA.
Level II Code: B22B Salary Band: L At this level employees are assigned responsibilities involving the administration of a telecommunications or information technology program of moderate size and scope or assisting in the administration of a program which is large in size and scope.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level I.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level I plus one additional year of qualifying experience.
Level III Code: B22C Salary Band: M At this level employees are responsible for the administration of a telecommunications or information technology program which is large in size and scope. This includes a program in a large agency which has statewide application.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level II plus demonstrated ability to direct the work of others.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level II.
Level IV Code: B22D Salary Band: O At this level employees are assigned responsibilities involving professional management and support for telecommunications or information technology systems and networks used by multiple state agencies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required at this level include those identified in Level III.
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of those identified in Level II.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS: Some positions may require education, experience or certification in a specific type of telecommunications work or certification or licensing in a specific type of communications. |
