 Who We Are
In 1988, Governor Henry Bellmon created the State Employee Assistance Program (EAP) within OPM by Executive Order; the Legislature made the OPM State EAP a statutory program in 1992. The OPM State EAP, which is voluntary, provides assistance to state agencies in their management of employees whose personal problems may have a negative impact on job performance. The OPM State EAP also assists employees and their family members who are seeking corrective help with medical or mental health problems, including alcohol or drug abuse, and emotional, marital, familial, financial, or other personal problems. Merit Rules governing the OPM State EAP are found at 530:10-21-1 through 10-21-9.

 

Products and Services We Provide

 OPM State EAP members maintain contacts with community service providers for the purpose of networking and coordinating services to state agencies and employees. Team members also provide training on Managing the Troubled Employee, Stress Management, as well as mandatory drug and alcohol training.

Members of the OPM State EAP Team work to resolve problems related to alcohol or drug abuse and emotional, marital, family, mental health, financial, gambling and other personal problems, while developing short- and long-term goals. They also provide crisis intervention to agencies for troubled employees and their family members by offering professional emergency services.

Each year members of the OPM State EAP Team publish an Annual Report and the (Accessibility Statement) detailing activities related to all of the products and services they provide.

OPM State EAP Team members also provide staff assistance to the OPM State Employee Assistance Program Advisory Council.
