OKWIN will certify additional subscriber units on a case by case basis. All subscriber units must be in compliance with the following minimum standards to be considered for OKWIN acceptance testing, certification and use on the OKWIN:
The OKWIN Network is migrating from a Mixed-Mode network, capable of operating in both "analog" and "digital", to a Project 25 (P25) compliant digital network. OKWIN will not allow analog-only radios to be added that are not already operating on the system. Existing "analog" subscriber equipment will be disabled from operating on the OKWIN network as it is replaced with a P25 compliant subscriber unit. OKWIN will not enable an existing analog subscriber that has been acquired by a new entity.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) partnered with the Department of Commerce Public Safety Communications Research program to establish the Project 25 Compliance Assessment Program (P25 CAP) to ensure equipment can work together regardless of supplier. The P25 CAP is a voluntary program that allows suppliers to formally demonstrate their products’ compliance to P25 standards. Compliance testing is a formal, independent process that concludes with official summary test reports and suppliers’ declaration of compliance documents.
