ACM@UCO

The Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma (ACM@UCO) is more than a music school, it’s a connection. UCO has teamed up with the ACM of London to offer an  education that really is all about the music. At ACM@UCO, students connect directly to the music industry through auditions, live performances, showcases, and an online database of talent.

Oklahoma City University-
Wanda L. Bass School of Music

With two undergraduate tracks, Oklahoma City University’s Wanda L. Bass School of Music programs are designed to develop comprehensive musical skills and literacy. Within the curriculum, students will explore subjects such as instrumental performance, music theater, vocal performance, music education, composition, music business, and piano pedagogy.

Oklahoma’s only comprehensive music school is at the University of Oklahoma. The School of Music offers degrees at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels in all areas of music performance, composition, education, history and theory.

Oklahoma State University-
Department of Music

The Department of Music at Oklahoma State University is fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, and is proud to offer a wide variety of degree programs . These programs provide intensive courses of study that prepare students as emerging music professionals in a wide variety of career paths.  The Department also offers many opportunities for non-music majors to participate in ensembles and applied instruction.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University

Southwestern Oklahoma State University is home to one of Oklahoma’s largest music schools. SWOSU offers undergraduate degrees in Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music Education, Bachelor of Music; the Graduate Division of the department offers the Master of Music in Performance, the Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy, and the Master of Music in Music Education.

Northeastern State University-
Music Department

Part of the Department of Performing Arts in the College of Liberal Arts, NSU's Music Department has a mission to provide undergraduate education leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree (with options in Musical Arts, Music Business, Performance, and Jazz Studies) and Bachelor of Music Education degree. The department also offers coursework to non-majors who are interested in learning more about music opportunities.

Oklahoma City Community College

OCCC’s two-year Associate Degree program in music develops skills in important areas such as theory, performance, and individual and group applied music, all the while enjoying modern facilities including a Kurzweil Electonic Piano Laboratory with individual MIDI stations, practice rooms, and a 250-seat theatre for performances. Upon completion, students are able to transfer to a four-year college or university to continue as a junior.

Northwestern Oklahoma State University

The music program of Northwestern Oklahoma State University prepares students majoring in music to accept the challenge of leadership in music and the arts amid the ever-changing face of society. The dedicated faculty help students experience the highest aesthetic order, thereby empowering graduates to be outstanding performers and dedicated educators.

Oral Roberts University

Students who wish to major in music at ORU are preparing for one of three degrees: Bachelor of Music Education; Bachelor of Music with a major in Performance, Sacred Music, Composition or Composition Technology; or a Bachelor of Arts in music with emphasis in Music Arts or Music Technology. 

Film Programs

University of Oklahoma Film and Video Studies Program

Film and Video Studies is an interdisciplinary program in the College of Arts and Sciences that combines courses offered in the Department of English, the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC), Department of Modern Languages, Literatures and Linguistics (MLLL), the Department of Communications, the School of Art, and the College of Education. The program is designed to give students a broad understanding of the role of film and video in modern society.

University of Tulsa Department of Film Studies

The 33-hour major leading to a B.A. in Film Studies at the University of Tulsa provides liberal arts students with the history, theory, and production techniques of film. The Department of Film Studies equips its majors with the technical expertise to enter professional employment as well as the knowledge and experience necessary to continue study in graduate school.

Oklahoma State University Screen Studies Program

The Oklahoma State University Screen Studies program incorporates film studies, television studies, and studies in new media. Screen Studies offers courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Courses cover a wide array of moving image productions and contexts—both American and international, fiction and non-fiction, narrative and avant-garde—and focus on the history, theory, and aesthetics of screen-based representations, as well as their cultural and political impact.  

Oklahoma City Community College Film Institute

Offered at Oklahoma City Community College, the Oklahoma Film Institute offers a series of seven three-day clinics (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) and one six-day clinic teaching Cinema Production, Directing, Art Direction, Cinematography, Lighting, Make Up, Editing, and Writing.  OCCC has a new 8-million-dollar Visual and Performing Arts Center, featuring state-of-the art filmmaking equipment and facilities that are the best in the state.

University of Central Oklahoma College of Arts, Media, and Design

UCO's College of Arts, Media, and Design is comprised of the Department of Art, Department of Design, School of Music, Department of Theatre Arts, Department of Dance, and the Oklahoma Center for Arts Education.  Now known as the College of Fine Arts and Design, the program strives to be a cultural resource for its students and the community.

University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, located in Chickasha, is the state's public liberal arts college. Its mission is to provide the public with a distinctive and accessible liberal arts and sciences education. In combining an interdisciplinary core curriculum with superior instruction in major fields of study, USAO aims to provide a thorough education that prepares students for meaningful, purposeful lives. 

University of Oklahoma Independent Film Project

The Independent Film Project at the University of Oklahoma is an instructional innovation of the School of Art seeking to bridge the gap between the university and the working world.  It does this by using non-traditional and cross-disciplinary approaches and promotes interaction between students and professionals in the film and video areas through seminars, symposia, workshops, independent filmmaker series, and special projects. The events are free and open to the public.
