Emergency Services

  emergency_services_collage

Members of the Emergency Services Sector serve the public in times of need.  Whether the emergency is medical, fire, natural disaster or terrorist act, Oklahoma’s Emergency Services personnel are prepared to react and trained to address the situation. The nature of their response can put them in harms way, and provide an avenue for those posing as emergency responders to access restricted or sensitive areas.

What to look for:

The following are possible indicators of terrorist activity related to the Emergency Services Sector:

  • Theft or loss of emergency related equipment and vehicles (medical or fire paraphernalia, uniforms, insignias or decals, vehicle license plate(s), special parking placards and vehicle identification, etc.)

  • Individuals who enroll in EMT classes who show little interest in learning actual EMT functions, but inquire about communications systems, response procedures of EMS, Fire, and hospital staff, and hospital security procedures.

  • An unexplained withdrawal by a student after completion of training or a certification program required for the operation of emergency vehicles and associated duties.

  • Inquiries into the purchase of emergency vehicles, uniforms, etc.

  • Suspicious individuals observed loitering in the vicinity of parked emergency vehicles, hospital emergency rooms, or hospital ambulance entrances.

  • Inquiries about how emergency vehicle markings are authenticated.
  • False emergency calls to locations near critical infrastructure or other likely terrorist targets to gauge response time.

  • Improperly marked or suspicious emergency vehicles.

What to do:

Please remember that the conduct of an individual will not necessarily be criminal in nature. Any unusual incidents or suspicious behavior should be reported immediately to your local Law Enforcement Agency and the Oklahoma Information Fusion Center.

 For all emergencies, call “911.”
