Banking and Finance
The Banking and Finance Sector encompasses all aspects of financial entities including banks, investment firms, credit companies, and government-related financial departments. As such, this sector is a high-value and symbolic target for terrorist attacks. Potential threats facing the sector involve natural disasters, large-scale power outages, cyber attacks and other electronic crimes.
As a preventative measure, the Oklahoma Information Fusion Center (OIFC) provides a means for information and intelligence sharing among law enforcement and the public and private sectors within Oklahoma and nationwide. Entities within this sector can provide the OIFC with information related to the banking industry, such as suspicious activities, critical infrastructure information, and crime trends (e.g., fraud, identity theft, and suspicious activity reports), in addition to tactical information, including information to aid in ongoing criminal investigations (e.g., account information and credit history, with applicable legal authorization).
Because the United States financial services sector is the backbone of the world economy, it is imperative that we work together to identify and manage this myriad of financial and non-financial risks in order to ensure the continuity and efficient operation of the sector’s institutions.
