Service Award: Monty Ramming, Five Years

Monty Ramming was recognized at the May meeting of the Conservation Commission for five years of service to OCC and the state of Oklahoma. Monty is employed in OCC's Water Quality  division as the coordinator for the Fort Cobb Project. One of the goals of that project is to increase the use of no-till farming methods by area producers. Dan Butler, OCC/WQ director, said that Monty, in cooperation with Ed Crall, project education coordinator, have held a series of well-attended public meetings and have seen a significant increase in the use of no-till in the project area.

Monty was born and raised on a farm near Hinton and continues to work with his father on the family farm. He graduated from OSU with a bachelor's degree in animal science, and worked in the agricultural field in the Hinton area until OCC hired him in 2002.Monty came to OCC's Water Quality program with a strong agricultural background and deep roots in the Fort Cobb Watershed area and in the soil conservation movement. Monty's father served on the North Caddo CD board for 20 years, his brother is the NRCS district conservationist at Ottawa County CD and his cousin Jason works for OCC in the Water Quality Division.
