OCC Chairman George Stunkard (left) and Executive Director Mike Thralls (right) present Ed Crall with an award for five years of service.

Edward (Ed) Crall was recognized for five years of service to the state of Oklahoma and the Conservation Commission at the June 2007 Commission meeting. He joined OCC’s Water Quality Division as education coordinator for the Fort Cobb Water Quality Project in April 2002. He did “double duty” in the final days of the Stillwater Creek Project when the project coordinator’s position became open.

Ed earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and Business Administration from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in May 1978. He also graduated as a member of Class VIII of the Oklahoma Agricultural Leadership program in 1998. Currently he is a part time student at the University of Oklahoma where he has completed 36 of the 54 hours needed to earn a Masters of Accountancy degree.

Ed is a director of the Farmers Cooperative Exchange of Weatherford and has been since 1984. He has held the office of secretary of the association since 1986. He farms 400 acres of wheat and alfalfa, some of which is being farmed no-till, as well as grazing cattle and goats on 2,500 acres of pasture and rangeland in Custer County. During the late 1980s and early ‘90s, Ed planted in excess of 17,000 tree seedlings along the banks of Deer and Horse Creeks in Custer County. While participating in the Ag Leadership program, he visited China, where they spent several days along the Yellow (Hangue) river which is the “siltiest” river in the world.

Ed’s wife Debbie teaches 1st grade in the Thomas, Fay, Custer Unified School District. They have three children -- daughter Krysta is a legal secretary in Oklahoma City and recently married; son Ty is a well logging engineer for Halliburton Industries; and son Wade is a senior in the School of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Oklahoma.

Whenever possible Ed participates in activities of the Oklahoma Cattleman’s Association and the Custer County Farm Bureau.
