Insurance agents, adjusters and citizens have another opportunity to gain useful industry tips and hear the latest updates on insurance-related issues at the 2009 Climate and Loss Mitigation Conference.
Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Kim Holland is hosting the fourth-annual conference on April 9, 2009, at the National Weather Center, 120 David L Boren Blvd, in Norman.
“The Climate and Loss Mitigation Conference has increasingly become one of the most popular seminars for adjusters, agents and citizens,” said Holland. “Our state's pool of resources at the National Weather Center and our experience dealing with nearly every kind of weather- and climate-related incident imaginable allows us to put on an event where participants leave with knowledge and resources they couldn’t acquire anywhere else.”
The one-day conference is a joint effort between the Oklahoma Insurance Department and the Oklahoma Climatological Survey.
Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the event concludes at 4:00 p.m.
Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty will deliver the keynote address on the National Association of Insurance Commissioners’ (NAIC) recently reformed national catastrophe plan.
In addition, local meteorologists and climate and agriculture experts will be on hand to discuss crisis communication during weather-related incidents, how small businesses can develop continuity plans and the latest updates on federal and state issues.
The conference is open to the public at a cost of $20. Six hours of continuing education credit are available for licensed producers and adjusters for $40. Lunch is included in the registration fee for all attendees.
Kansas state producers and adjusters are eligible to attend the conference in order to receive 6 hours of Kansas CE credit. Call 405.521.3916 or e-mail LaDonna.Sharp@oid.ok.gov for more information.
